 Belgian delicatessen or what is played on European dance-floors…<\/strong>     Exactly this question – how do the European “gothic-parties” look like and do they really differ from Ukrainian ones – interested me already for a while. And also – WHO are those mysterious people, that are hiding in the ultraviolet darkness and producing the sounds which force hundreds of people’s hearts on the dancefloor beating together, what are they doing in their life, what do they think of dark scenes and gothic culture as a way of living. All these questions I have asked an old friend of Oomph!, the author of one of the remixes for their song “Augen Auf!”, DJ WILDHONEY.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   The whole interview will be published in the next number of the Ukrainian printed magazine “GOTHICA” in August 2008<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya: <\/strong>As I know, you are not only DJ of Oomph!-Day party project but also webmaster of the official Oomph! MySpace, Oomph!-Day MySpace, and the official Belgian Oomph! Website. I also would like to hear more about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> Well, I do this on a voluntary base to show respect to the band and to give them something back because their music really means a lot to me. MySpace is a very important platform nowadays for artists and as I am a IT-professional I thought that I could do these jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya: <\/strong>What is playing now in your player? Do you keep an eye on the new releases? Who are your personal favourites in last time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY: <\/strong>Of course I keep an eye on the new releases. At this moment I am looking forward to the new albums of Oomph!, Fixmer\/McCarthy and And One. The last months I listend a lot to Diorama, Diary of Dreams and Miserylab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya: <\/strong>Which bands you can call like your personal gods? How did they influence on your life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> I adore Industrial-Metal music like Oomph!, Ministry, Prong, Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, Die Krupps, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, The Kovenant, Hanzel und Gretyl, \u2026 . But I also like EBM\/Electro bands like And One, DAF, Nitzer Ebb, Funker Vogt, Die Form, Front 242, Cat Rapes Dog and New-Wave (and Gothic) bands like The Sisters Of Mercy, X-Mal Deutschland, Christian Death (Rozz Williams), Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Neon Judgement, Depeche Mode, Pixies, \u2026 I am also into Crossover things like System Of A Down. As you can see, I have a wide spectrum of interests and influences. The power of the songs that these bands give to me is indescribable and the lyrics are very deep and true \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> Is it important and necessary to divide the music into the different styles? And doesn\u2019t it keep the bands within the limits and borders, that they have to play only EBM, or only industrial or something else?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> I think that if you are a real artist, it is very difficult to focus on one genre\/style. For me an art is undefined (unlimited) and it\u2019s normal that bands sometimes color out of the lines\u2026 But if you as a band try to jump on a train from another band (how many copies of Korn for example aren\u2019t there \u2026) then you are just copy a formula that works with the big audience and being commercial. I don\u2019t think that bands really like it when you put a style on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> What should people have in their heads if they wear only black and look sometimes like freaks. What is for carnival of broken souls?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> Everyone has to live his life, so this means that everyone has to deal with pleasure and pain, good times and bad times, light and darkness \u2026 Typical for this scene is the adoration of the dark, which doesn\u2019t always have to be negative. Dark can also mean unknown and it also refers to the more esoteric side of life. A lot of people don\u2019t like the black clothes that are worn because for them it looks strange and they make a wrong opinion about you too fast \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> Oh, this I could understand very well. Stereotypes are dangerous quite often. But anyway, you also can see, there is TOO much despair and disappointment in this gothic culture. Do you also think that in our life everything is beyond the hope and down?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> Well, I am a martial artist for 20 years now. I learned not to give up easily if you want something and that there is always hope. But I have to admit that if you take a look at todays society, a lot of things are going wrong and egoism and money seems to be the only important things anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> And what is actually pop music and is it really so big evil like it is said. Can pop music have positive influence on the modern life \u2013 is it real art or just entertainment, the way to earn money and become famous?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> Pop music is by definition popular music. I think it\u2019s ok if you like a song and if this can make you happy or you can freak out on it at a party. Pop music is more for a wide audience who are easily satisfied with the quality of it. I think it\u2019s in the first place entertainment and commercial but there are always exceptions and so it\u2019s possible that underground bands suddenly can score a world-hit and become worldwide famous \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> Why do you think this gothic culture is so popular especially in Germany? Why has it become the Mecca for all bands which play in this direction, for all djs and for the most famous and biggest European, even better say, world festivals like Wave Gotik Treffen and Mera Luna?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ WILDHONEY:<\/strong> At this moment there are a lot of labels, bands and clubs in Germany. As you mentioned, the biggest festivals in the scene are also in Germany. Or maybe it has something to do with the explanation of the term Goth : An Eastern German tribe who played an important role in the fall of the Roman Empire \/ Pagan tribe (barbarian) during and after the process of Christianisation of Europe (source Wikipedia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klodiya:<\/strong> Can you give us an overview of the wide spectrum that Goth covers nowadays ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
