Творчество Энн Стоукс известно каждому, кто видел обложку альбома Perils of the Deep Blue норвежской готик метал группы Sirenia. Именно её руке принадлежит эта загадочная русалка. Мортен Веланд случайно натолкнулся на рисунок в Сети и решил выкупить права на использование его в качестве обложки. Хотя, пожалуй, самой известным произведением Энн Стоукс является оформление настольной игры "Dungeons and Dragons".

You know the works of Anne Stokes, if you have ever seen the cover of the "Perils of the Deep Blue" album  by the Norwegian gothic metal band Sirenia.  Yes, that mysterious mermaid is her art. Morten Weland just found it on the Web and decided to buy the rights to use the picture as a cover.  Although, perhaps, the most famous work by Anne Stokes is the design of the  "Dungeons and Dragons" RPG.

 

The artist was born in London, but now lives and works in Yorkshire (England).  Her professional career as a digital artist began in 2000, and soon Anne's works became quite famous and recognizable.

 

Stokes says that Gothic culture resonates to her strongly, both visually and ideologically.  She also loves gothic music and periodically attends the Whitby Gothic Weekends festival. In turn, her art can be widely found, for example, as prints on Gothic clothing and accessories.

 

It is worth mentioning that special decks of Tarot cards were issued using the arts of Anne Stokes: Gothic Tarot and Tarot of Legends.
